COLIN RYAN WINS SECOND ALL IRELAND SH MEDAL: Heartiest congratulations to the Limerick Senior Hurling team and management, and especially to our own clubman, Colin Ryan, on capturing the 2026 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship title in Croke Park last Sunday. It was yet another magnificent occasion for Limerick, who claimed their sixth All-Ireland title in nine years, a truly remarkable achievement by any standard and one that undoubtedly cements this outstanding team among the greatest in the history of the GAA.
The celebrations did not end there. It has been an extraordinary year for Limerick hurling, with the county's Minor team, featuring Daire Long , also capturing All-Ireland honours. In doing so, Limerick achieved the coveted Senior and Minor All-Ireland double for the first time since 1940, adding another historic chapter to the county's proud hurling tradition.
Everyone at Pallasgreen GAA Club is immensely proud of Colin and Daire. Their dedication, commitment, and success have brought tremendous honour to the club, and both players have deservedly inscribed their names into the rich history of Pallasgreen GAA.
We extend our sincere congratulations to Colin and Daire, along with all the players, management, and backroom teams involved with both Limerick squads. They have given the county and our club memories that will be cherished for many years to come.
GOLF CLASSIC. Pallasgreen GAA Club is delighted to announce that its Annual Golf Classic will take place on Friday, 21st August, at the wonderful Ballykisteen Golf Club. As it does every year, the Golf Classic promises to be a fantastic day of golf and socialising for golfers, club members, supporters. The event has become a highlight of the club's annual calendar, offering an enjoyable day on one of the region's finest golf courses.
The entry fee is €200 per team of four, which includes a meal afterwards in the clubhouse, providing the opportunity to relax following the day's golf.
Teams are encouraged to book early to secure their preferred tee time. To arrange a tee time or for further information, please contact Aidan Foley on 087 412 8631 or Padraic Phelan on 083 013 5825.
HEARTBREAK IN LGFA LEAGUE FINAL: Hard luck to our adult ladies, who were narrowly beaten by a superb Galtee Gaels side in the County League Final played in glorious sunshine in Martinstown last Friday evening.
The fine weather set the stage for a thrilling encounter, and both teams certainly lived up to expectations in what proved to be a titanic contest from start to finish. Packed with scores, momentum swings and outstanding football, it was a fantastic spectacle for all in attendance. Galtee Gaels made a blistering start and had built up a commanding 2-7 to 0-2 lead by the first water break. The pause came at the right time for Pallas, who emerged rejuvenated and gradually worked their way back into the contest. A determined finish to the opening half saw them cut the deficit to just five points, trailing 2-8 to 1-7 at the interval. Pallas carried that momentum into the second half and seized control with two quick goals to edge into the lead for the first time. However, Galtee Gaels responded with two more goals to wrestle back the initiative. Both sides battled fiercely throughout, producing an absorbing game of football played with tremendous determination and skill. As the closing stages approached, Galtee Gaels opened up a seven-point advantage .but a last-minute penalty from Sarah Dillon reduced the margin, but it proved too little, too late as the final whistle brought an end to a pulsating final. While disappointment was evident at the finish, the Pallas girls can be immensely proud of their performance, spirit and resilience throughout the game and well done for a mighty effort in a memorable County League Final, which finished on a scoreline of Galtee Gaels 5-12, Pallas 5-8. CO IFC: Hard luck to the Intermediate Football team who suffered a three point loss to Newcastle West in the first round of the county intermediate football championship group 1 in Rathbane during the week. In a low scoring encounter the scores were level at four points each at the break. Pallas were unlucky not to come away with a result as they played great football in the second half, but NCW got the scores that mattered to seal the victory by 0-12 to 0-9.
Next up is the second round v Galbally this Saturday (25th) 7.30pm in Hospital
LAST MAN STANDING: Congratulations to Evan Pearse who won the recent World Cup Last Man Standing Competition: Evan correctly predicted Spain would win the final. Mbappe would win the Golden Boot and Simon the Golden Glove.
